What should I do if I get a “403 Access Blocked” error during authorization?

A 403 error is caused by missing permission scopes or the Google app remaining in “Testing” status in your Google Cloud Console.

  1. When generating the authentication token, ensure you check all permission checkboxes on the Google OAuth consent screen.
  2. Go to the Google Cloud Developer Console -> OAuth consent screen.
  3. Under “Publishing status”, click Publish App to switch it from “Testing” to “Production”. If left in “Testing” status, Google will expire your token every 7 days, causing recurring 403 errors.
